BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Bills were out in force Monday night at Eric Wood’sFirst Annual Dinner for a Difference. Wood and 20 of his teammates took on table serving for the evening to help serve nearly 150 guests a three-course meal at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo. The Bills were there to support The Eric Wood Foundation and its mission to help chronically and critically ill children throughout Western New York and their families during times of need.

During a surprise visit by Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, guests enjoyed dinner service by Bills: William Campbell, Dan Carpenter, Matt Cassel, Marcell Dareus, Boobie Dixon, Jordan Gay, Corey Graham, Chris Hogan, Fred Jackson, Darryl Johnson, Cyrus Kouandjio, Alex Kupper, EJ Manuel, DJ Morrell, Cyril Richardson, Garrison Sanborn, Colton Schmidt, Tyrod Taylor, Kraig Urbik and Matt Simms.

Celebrity servers passed appetizers, poured wine, paused for photos and autographs and even bid on some of Wood’s auction items.“The guys always want to come out to support this kind of thing,” said Wood. “It’s a nice time for us. We get to bond and work together doing something that’s pretty out of the ordinary for us. And we do it to support a good cause.”

It was a lively evening featuring bourbon tasting and donated open bar from Beam Suntory, custom cigar rolling from Nice Ash and live piano from BDubbs, a member of rising country band Joe Bachman and the Tailgaters. DJ Jickster and Rob Lederman of Cumulus Media emceed the evening. Well known auctioneer Cash Cunningham lead the crowd through a thrilling live auction sponsored by Roswell Park Cancer Institute and featuring country concert tickets, ultimate fan packages, hunting trips and much more.

Jim Kelly received a standing ovation after joining Wood at the front of the room. With personal anecdotes about the loss of his son and his own recent battle with cancer, Kelly left the crowd tear struck and moved. Wood, who lost his younger brother to a chronic illness, announced plans to launch his first E-Zone, an electronic entertainment hub at local hospitals and Operation Santa Claus, a shopping experience and Christmas meal for local families in need, in the coming year. He backed it with a $5,000 personal donation.

Bid paddles flew as Western New York showed its support for his mission.

Through donations, sponsorships and live and silent auction, the First Annual Dinner for a Difference brought in over $60,000. This money will help The Eric Wood Foundation make a difference in thousands of lives of chronically and critically ill children in months and years to come.
