PROLANTHROPY CLIENT CHAD GREENWAY WINS NFLPA’s BYRON “WHIZZER” WHITE AWARD
NFLPA awards Chad Greenway $100,000 for his Lead the Way Foundation, a Prolanthropy managed foundation
FLORENCE, KY – The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) – an organization that annually recognizes players who go above and beyond to perform community service in their team cities and hometowns – announced today that Prolanthropy Client, Chad Greenway of the Minnesota Vikings is the 2015 recipient of the Byron “Whizzer” White Award.
The Byron “Whizzer” White Award is the highest honor the NFLPA can bestow on a player. The nomination process is a two-step one, with nominees chosen first in the locker room, where each team was given the opportunity to nominate a player from their team. All 32 initial nominees received $5,000 for his foundation or charity of his choice. NFLPA judges then narrowed the applicants down to five finalists.
From there, judges identify one winner, announced today at the NFLPA’s annual Board of Representatives Meeting. Greenway received $100,000 for his foundation as the winner.
Greenway was chosen, in large part because of the community work he has done in the Twin Cities through his Prolanthropy managed foundation: Chad Greenway’s Lead the Way Foundation. Since 2008, the foundation has impacted the lives of 320,000 people in the Twin Cities.
The mission of Chad’s Foundation is to provide resources and opportunities to the families of critically and chronically ill children in the Twin Cities. To date, the foundation has launched five Chad’s Lockers, electronic hubs that provides entertainment to children and families on extended stays in children’s hospitals, including in the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital, Children's Minneapolis Hospital, Hudson Hospital and Clinics, Children's Hospitals & Clinics of Minnesota St. Paul and Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare. Plans for the sixth locker launch in Sioux Falls, South Dakota are underway.
The Lead the Way Foundation also hosts an annual TendHER Heart brunch to honor the mothers of critically and chronically ill children and a Field of Dreams weekend getaway for the families of chronically and critically ill children.
Greenway says he is thrilled and already has plans for ways the Foundation can use the award money.
“What Chad is doing is so inspiring,” says Jeff Ginn, CEO and President of Prolanthropy. “We’re always excited when any of our clients are recognized for their good work and we are especially thankful to play a role in helping Chad make such a significant impact on the children and families in the Twin Cities and ultimately be recognized with this great honor.”
